G-Netech has been busy in the last month developing its relationship with global software giant Microsoft. In the past month, G-Netech was a finalist in two Microsoft competitions, Solution Builder 2003 and Spotlight on Office System 2003. G-Netech's entry into the competitions is a product named Education Services that extends the functionality of Office System 2003. This product has been developed in conjunction with Bond University and is currently running as a pilot in the Bond University IT faculty.

Microsoft has been launching Office System 2003 in Australia through a comprehensive roadshow, taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. As part of the roadshow, Microsoft has asked G-Netech to demonstrate our Smart Document capabilities, as part of the Education Services solution. Smart Documents have XML or Smart Tags embedded in the document, which call information from a database directly into the document. G-Netech has created a Smart Document to assist with the managing and marking of exam papers.

Education Services leverages Microsoft Office 2003 to create a collaborative learning environment for corporate training and higher education. Built on a Microsoft platform, Education Services leverages the existing technology investment of businesses and organizations, reducing the cost of ownership.

Education Services uses every facet of Microsoft Office System 2003. It uses the powerful new features of Office System such as custom Web Parts, InfoPath*, Smart Documents, XML-based Web Services, Research and Reference Lookup Pane and Information Rights Management and Storable Templates.

G-Netech has developed custom SharePoint templates based on subject requirements and added custom web features such as consolidated calendars, secure assignment submission, mobile interface, and Windows Media Player integration for rapid and secure collaboration in corporate and education systems.

In education systems, Education Services manages the distribution and administration of educational content, including the process of assessment. Students gain easier access to information, improved time management and dynamic collaboration.

In corporate environments, Education Services allows companies to integrate learning into normal business processes through standard Internet and desktop tools. It provides for effective monitoring and tracking of internal education programs and permits effective organisation of corporate training material through indexing, information rights management and reusable templates.

With the Sydney and Melbourne legs of the roadshow completed, G-Netech has stood shoulder to shoulder on the stage with the likes of Telstra, Fujitsu, HP and WebCentral. G-Netech is the only SME on the roadshow a significant moment in the development of the company.
